MERCY HOSPICE GRIEF PROGRAMS provide support for those in the grieving process. Support groups are open, not just for those served through Mercy Hospice. The following groups are available:
PATHWAYS THROUGH GRIEF is a multi-session group experience offered several times throughout the year. The program addresses issues such as the way grief and loss affect the body; how loss affects relationships; difference between complicated grief and depression; and offers positive, manageable strategies for getting through the first year after the loss of a loved one
THE MEN'S GROUP addresses the unique male experience of grief and loss. Facilitated by male volunteers with guests from professional community. Meets the first Saturday of each month at 9 am at Mercy Hospice-Johnston
COMFORT COFFEE is a casual drop-in support group for grieving persons offered the first Friday of each month at Mercy Hospice Johnston
SOUP TUESDAY is an opportunity to share a simple meal and talk with others who have also experienced loss. First Tuesday of each month at 5:30 pm at Mercy Hospice Johnston; must make a reservation
MANAGING GRIEF DURING THE HOLIDAYS is a one session program considering the way grief affects our celebration of traditional holidays and special events such as birthdays and anniversaries. Helps plan how to observe holiday in the absence of a loved one
MERCY HOSPICE MEMORIAL SERVICE honors and remembers the lives of patients at an annual Memorial usually held on All Saints Day
BEREAVEMENT MAILINGS offers regular mailings to the family for one year after the patient had died
