04/07/2020 - COVID -19 Changes:
First of all, let me state that we hope that you all are staying well and healthy. These are unprecedented times that call for incredibly challenging decisions and we know that we are not alone when it comes to these decisions. In the interest of the highest degree of safety and health for our community, and in accordance with recent developments from the Governor, the CDC, Iowa Department of Public Health, and like many of you in the community within your own organizations, Goodwill of Central Iowa would like to make you aware of several temporary changes/updates to programming:
Skills Training programming– Retail Skills Training will complete their program at the end of the day today (03/17). Food Service Skills Training and Warehouse/Packaging/Logistics (WPL) Skills Training will complete their program no later than the end of the day Friday (03/19). Sadly, this means there will also be no public graduation ceremonies – but please know how proud we are of all our graduates and the amazing progress they made! The Food Services/WPL programs scheduled to begin 03/30 and 03/31 respectively will be postponed indefinitely. No decision will be made at this time regarding the next Retail Skills Training program to begin April 27.
Supported Employment Services (SEP) – all job development programming and a majority of job coaching programming will be suspended indefinitely. Individual team members will be contacted by their respective Career Specialists and Job Coaches for further information.
Day Services – programming will be suspended indefinitely, effective immediately. Individual team members will be contacted, if they have not already, by their respective Life Instructors.
Career Connection Centers (Des Moines and Newton) – CCCs will close at close of business on Wednesday, March 18th, and remain closed indefinitely.
Should you have any questions, comments, or concerns regarding any of these programs, please send an e-mail to email@example.com and we respond as quickly as we can!
Again, we sincerely thank you for your support and understanding with the decisions made today. I will continue to communicate and relay all the latest details, as soon as they become available. Be well, be smart, be safe, and stay strong – we are all in this together and it is together we will get through it!
